Updates: Outbound and more

Sat May 2, 2009, 10:08 PM
I've been totally swamped with several different things. I really need to make the time to update this thing more often...somewhat regularly would be nice.

So I've wrapped an illustration gig, and an eight page sequential project written by Mr-Roho :iconmr-roho: titled, Cerulean Dream. It's very different for me, as evidenced by my Sci-Fi-Manga-inspired page 1 [link] , which is the first page in the story. It's the lead story for his Sci-Fi anthology, OUTBOUND, and though I'm not privy to all the details of what he has planned for his anthology, I do know it's very ambitious...and it has an extremely gorgeous cover (seriously, this is a VERY powerful cover). If you get a chance, head over to his site and hound him for details :)

Also, I'll be making an announcement shortly for a side project of a different nature I'm going to be taking on. I'm going to try and raise some money for a family whose three year old is in need of major medical treatment after a near-drowning accident. I've never tried something like this before, but I plan on offering chances (probably $5 for one chance, and $10 for three chances, though that hasn't been set in stone) for a full-color (if that's what the winner chooses) 11x17 commission (pencils, inks, paints, conte crayon, whatever the winner wants). I can work in a wide variety of styles, and have traditional art training (people and animal portraits, landscapes, etc.), and will work with the winner to get them exactly what they want. And every penny goes to help this family get the treatment that could help their son toward recovery. I'll make an official posting with all the information and a link to the family's site soon, but in the meantime if you'd like a chance to win potentially very cheap, high-quality commission, or know someone who would, please keep this in mind. I know times are tough for a lot of people, but how often do we get to really make a difference through our art? Please watch for it.

Thanks for stopping by,

Yo Brett, F'n awesome Lucha Libre stuff. My sis is a Spanish teacher and recently did a unit on Luchadores and the culture behind it, so I've been all about it as of late. So badass! Great work.
Thanks man! Yeah, this is some pretty crazy stuff. Fast cars, beautiful women, and zombie fighting. Why am I only finding out about this now? :)

Exactly! That's what I wanna know! It's like Pulp stuff, but...way better.
Awesome work with the Western page, good sir. I dig it.
Thanks very much! And thanks for stopping by. I'd like to do a story completely in this style some time. We'll see.
